As Russian activity intensifies in Ukraine and eastern Europe, Special Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) planes, police NATO’s borders from where they can monitor events. The flights are known as NATO’s “Eyes In The Sky” as they scan the surrounding air space and ground activity.
