This is the story of Clyde Hussey, a radio operator aboard the last B-29 that dropped the last bombs on Japan. His story is a remarkable one, with rare anecdotal storylines that you’ve likely never heard. One story involves running into a flight of 3, B-29s named the Enola Gay, Bockscar, and the Great Artiste. Just one of the many stories that you can experience firsthand at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum.
Chuck” Chauncey, local WW II B-29 pilot and volunteer on the restoration of “Doc” the B-29 here in Wichita, can identify with Clyde’s story and reflect back on his own experiences. “Chuck” is a Contributing Editor on Wings Over Kansas. Check out his story on the website.
