The 184th Bomb Wing and the Kansas Aviation Museum (KAM), Wichita, Kansas, have brought Kansans a front row view of B-1B night afterburner takeoffs, offering the public a spectacular view of the afterburner exhaust pouring from the jet engines of the Air Guard B-1B’s. Two B-1B’s would take-off, turn around and do a low-level pass with an impressive full-afterburner climb-out. Also the public was able to make a close examination of the General Electric F101 Jet Engine that powers the B1. This engine will be on display and two jet engine mechanics from the Air Guard was on hand at the KAM to answer questions for the general public. Additionally, the B1 Simulator Theater was on display for public participation.
