The Global Positioning System, originally NAVSTAR GPS, is a satellite-based radionavigation system owned by the U.S. Government and operated by the U.S. Space Force. First launched in 1978. Became fully operational in 1993. A total of 5 countries have put up satellites. From Real Engineering.
