The Kansas Aviation Museum is formally announcing its new event series: Third Thursdays. The events will vary, but the focus is on fun events that are great for the whole family.
The first such event, slated for Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm, is the 1st Annual RC Fly-in. The evening begins with WingKidz activities from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the Aircraft Restoration Building on the KAM campus. Club members will have the opportunity to fly radio controlled airplanes as well as build and fly balsa wood rubber band airplanes.
From 6:30pm to 8:30pm, RC modelers will be on hand for a flying exhibition of over twenty RC planes. Finally, a package of hot dog, chips and soda will be available at $5 dollars each. So bring your lawn chairs, fly and build planes and then watch the 1st Annual RC Fly-in.
We have an aggressive schedule of new exhibit openings every two months and have completed renovation of three areas with a fourth which is a replication of the original atrium ceiling stenciling underway.
Volunteers working on the restoration of vintage aircraft are very busy with several projects including the Stearman C3B, Stearman 4D, the Watkins Skylark and the Swallow.
We are proud of these achievements and the incredible transformation that is occuring at the Kansas Aviation Museum.
